I wanted this trip to be one to remember for my kids, so I chose The Peninsula Chicago hotel for our long weekend in Chicago. Choosing a hotel, location was also very important, and this hotel is located right by Michigan Avenue, close to the John Hancock Building and great shopping. The Peninsula is a 5 star hotel with an asian theme, and we stayed in an Executive Suite. I loved the spacious suite, the large windows with city view in three directions, and the marble bathroom with a bathtub with city view.

The hotel was also great when traveling with kids. We got welcome amenity of Peninsula treats, such as gummy bears, chocolate chip cookies and popcorn, bath amenities, children’s size robe and slippers. Peter Bear, the mascot of The Peninsula, also stopped by with a wagon full of treats! The mum also got to choose something from the wagon, and I got the gummy bears – they were so yummy!

The hotel also offer an indoor pool and jacuzzi on the 19th floor, with a great view of Lake Michigan and the city. We spent some time here, the kids loved it. You can also find a great spa and gym here, I didn’t find time for either spa or gym this time.
There is also a sun deck adjoining the pool, were we could enjoy the sunshine and nice Chicago weather.
The dining at this hotel is also great, the Lobby is so beautiful, we had breakfast here. Next time I’m in Chicago I would like to have Afternoon tea in The Lobby. We didn’t eat at Shanghai Terrace this time, but I have had dinner here and it’s excellent. It is the best Chinese restaurant in Chicago. Maybe we will hang out in The Bar when the kids get older, we had only a Cola this time, but it’s so cosy there by the fireplace.
The staff was amazing and we felt so welcome at this hotel. Housekeeping came twice a day, everything was very clean and nice, and the bed was super comfy. I think this is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Chicago is such a beautiful city and staying at this hotel makes it even better. We will definitely come back to Chicago and The Peninsula Chicago hotel.

[…] We stayed in Chicago from Saturday to Tuesday at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park hotel. I chose this hotel since it’s located on the south side of Chicago River in walking distance to Grant Park where the marathon started. I prefer to stay on the other side of the river by the Magnificent Mile, but it’s always nice to check out a new neigborhood and our room was spacious with two double beds, beautiful decor and view of the Chicago River. If you are planning to stay in Chicago for the marathon weekend I will recommend you to book a hotel room as early as possible, because the hotel prices increase this weekend. You can check out my favorite hotel in Chicago here. […]
