In Longyearbyen, there is the world’s northernmost fine dining restaurant Huset. The restaurant is tucked away in the corner of Longyearbyen, a 20 minute walk away from the town centre. The restaurant has magnificent views of the mountains, and an enormous polar bear skin stretched across one of its walls. Huset has been serving food since 1951. Today the restaurant is serving Scandinavian food with local ingredients and wine from one of Scandinavia’s largest wine cellar.

This polar bear was shot in Longyearbyen in 1982 and served at Huset.
We celebrated our Svalbard trip with a seven course meal with wine package. I think this is the best dinner I have ever had. It was amazing! We decided to go for all the courses with wine, since this was supposed to be a once in a lifetime experience, but I am definitely coming back here next time I visit this amazing island. The whole experience with fabulous food, great service and the surroundings were just perfect. It is expensive, but I think it was so worth it. I am so glad we did this, I had such a wonderful evening together with my best girls.
