To me, Paris was love at first sight, and this love is growing every time we meet. I love this city! It is well-known for being the most romantic city in the world, and I’m sure it is, but it is so much more.
I have been fortunate to visit Paris several times, and I can never get tired of this city. I even got married in Paris. I think the Parisians love weddings, I have never got so much attention in all my life. Walking down the Champs Élysée in a wedding dress, was something I will remember for the rest of my life. The cars were honking their horn and strangers congratulated us. We got married at the Norwegian embassy, we had Champagne and Russian Caviar in Le Jardin du Luxembourg, and in the evening we had dinner on a yacht on the river Seine. This was my first trip to Paris. We travelled with friends from Norway and my American relatives from Kenosha, USA. They all made this day the best day of my life, but this was not supposed to be about me, but Paris the love of my life.
Place Vendôme
On my first trip I did much of the “tourist things”, like the Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Notre-Dame, Sacré Coeur, Louvre and La Grande Arche in La Défense. I don’t like standing in a line and crowded places, but I like exploring on my own. When I’m in Paris now, I just like to enjoy the city wherever it takes me and it is true beauty everywhere.
I love the architecture, all the old historical buildings. It is so beautiful! Paris has architecture of every period from the Middle Ages to 21st century. I have to admit that I prefer the old Paris. The cathedral Notre Dame is a great example of the Gothic style, which I think is a fascinating architecture style. The Renaissance builings Louvre and the Place Royale are also among my favorites. Hôtel des Invalides is an amazing French Baroque and Classicism building. The famous dome of the Invalides was directly inspired by St. Peter’s in Rome.
My favorite bridge – the Pont Alexandre.
I think the best way to experience Paris is by foot. It’s a huge city, but it’s easy to navigate across the city due to quite visible landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre Museum. There are also major boulevards that make it all the easier to navigate. The Metro is also a well-organized underground public transport systems, that will take you to all of the 20 arrondissements.
I love the Parisian doors! I always wonder what is hidden behind them…..
There are so many beautiful park and gardens in Paris. I love the Luxembourg Garden and the garden is also one of the favourite green places of Parisians, students and tourists. The garden is situated between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter, which is one of my favorite places in Paris. The garden also has a palace, the Palais du Luxembourg, as a back drop.
Love locks” on the Pont des Arts before it was made lock proof.
It’s something about the atmosphere in Paris, I can’t describe it, I just know I love it. I like to walk around this city, and discover beautiful places. I prefer the narrow streets over the major boulevards. Latin Quarter and Le Marais are among my favorite places to stay.
I have to admit that I love shopping and shopping in Paris does not dissapoint. Avenue Montaigne and Rue Saint-Honoré are my favorite shopping streets. I love strolling down these streets and feel the pulse of Paris design and fashion. I’m a not a huge fan of department stores like the Galeries Lafayette, but it’s very beautiful.

I hope 2018 will take me back to Paris.
