Afternoon tea at the Ampersand hotel in London

IMG_7004You can’t visit London without having afternoon tea, so when I travelled to London with my children I had made afternoon tea reservation for our first day. I chose the Science Afternoon tea at the Ampersand hotel which I thought would be fun for both of my kids and myself.

The Ampersand hotel is situated a couple of minutes’ walk from South Kensington Station and a stone’s throw away from famous museums such as The Victoria and Albert museum, The Science museum and The Natural History museum.

Inspired by the hotel’s neighbour, The Science Museum, the afternoon tea boasts a star menu of delicious selection of themed treats including smoked salmon and avocado on blinis or crayfish with asparagus & Mary Rose sauce on toasted focaccia, freshly baked scones and a cream cheese planet mousse. Budding scientists can also dust for a collection of almond dinosaur shortbreads & fossil chocolates and use test tubes to sprinkle toppings on the homemade plain or white chocolate scones. There was also a great selection of tea.
The kids loved it when our Planet Mousse was brought to life with a swirling mist of  dry ice.

Inspired by English drawing rooms with a French finesse, deep sofas and studded armchairs in scarlet velvets, The Drawing Rooms at the Ampersand hotel is the place to enjoy pretty pastries and Afternoon Tea. We loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the science afternoon tea and if you are travelling with kids this is the perfect chose for afternoon tea.
